Lynbrook High
Lynbrook High School, also referred to as Lynbrook or LHS for short, is a co-educational, public, four-year high school located in the West San Jose neighborhood of San Jose, California, USA. It was founded in 1965 and graduated its first class in 1968.
Lynbrook is in the Fremont Union High School District along with Monta Vista High School, Cupertino High School, Fremont High School, and Homestead High School. It is fairly close to Miller Middle School. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
There are many measures that rank Lynbrook as one of the best high schools in the San Francisco Bay Area, California and in the nation.
Lynbrook High School is a comprehensive public high school serving approximately 1,820 students, grades 9-12, in suburban West San Jose. Opened in 1965 and named for the neighborhood in which it is located, Lynbrook was the fifth school in the Fremont Union High School District and one of three schools the district established during the 1960s. Beginning in the 1970s (not long after Lynbrook opened its doors), FUHSD graduates were instrumental in developing computer technologies that transformed the region into what we now know as the Silicon Valley. Lynbrook’s history is thus closely connected to some of the most profound social and technological developments of our time.
The values enacted by Lynbrook’s community—commitment to family, involvement in the schools, a belief in the importance of education and high academic expectations—directly contribute to the school’s excellent standing. For its part, Lynbrook works hard to meet the needs of its community, and the success of the school’s efforts is evident in our serene, safe, attractive campus; sophisticated approach to technology; collaborative faculty and staff; and extensive co-curricular and extracurricular programs, including state and national award-winning music, dance, drama, speech, and mathematics competition teams and 44 competitive athletic teams. Link Crew, an award-winning peer mentoring program, a staff-run Student Assistance Team, and more than 80 student-run clubs and organizations give all students an opportunity to be connected with Lynbrook High and provide additional support for students and parents. The Associated Student Body sponsors weekly activities during lunch and brunch, spirit weeks, a traditional homecoming week, school dances and evening events.
